Rio Ferdinand has broken his silence after his wife Kate gave birth to their son by sharing some cheeky football banter with fans.
The former Manchester United ace became a dad for the fourth time last week, welcoming a baby boy with ex-Towie star Kate.
Despite keeping quiet on life as a new dad, Rio found time to poke fun at supporters of his former club Leeds as they took on United yesterday – and got hammered 6-2.
He shared a picture of a young Whites fan holding up a poster emblazoned with the words “Rio who?”
Rio made light of his multi-million pound transfer from Leeds to United back in 2002.
He posted: “The cheek of it. Rio who’ ya know! And I was your captain lil man,” adding that his transfer fee was a record-breaking £30 million.
On Twitter, one Leeds fan accused the star of being disloyal by leaving calling him a “captain that walked out on his club” and Rio responded: “I had to win trophies mate – apologies!!”
Another Leeds supporter added: “You never did loyalty did you,” prompting Rio to reply: “It’s all a bit of banter anyway! Some of my most enjoyable times in my career were actually at Leeds.
“Great club, great set of lads and staff with great fans too.”
Despite all the banter with fans, Rio didn’t share any more details about his new baby.
News broke on Friday that Kate had given birth, but the pair have yet to reveal the youngster’s name.
They haven’t even released an official statement confirming the birth, choosing instead to keep their baby joy private.
A source told The Sun : “The birth of their baby is the best Christmas present Kate, Rio and their family could have asked for.
“It’s going to be more magical than ever.
“Mother and baby are doing great and everyone is excited about the latest addition to the family.”
Rio is already dad to three kids, Lorenz, 13, Tate, 11, and Tia, nine, from his previous marriage to late wife Rebecca and Kate has taken on the role of stepmum.
The new baby is their first together since they tied the knot in Turkey last year.
